Cowboy Shootout!

Last picture for the month of January.  I recently watched the Three Amigos again and somehow got in the mood of drawing cowboys . Also, I wanted to get back to doing more traditional stuff, so here’s a new illustration.

RPG Characters

January 23, 2014 § Leave a comment

I’ve been playing at an online RPG forum for many years now. Today I had some free time, so I decided to do quick doodles of some characters in our game. These were quick 5 min sketches each, keeping the hand loose, and also to keep drawing!!

Recently, I got the opportunity to do an art test for So I thought I’d share it with you guys because what I submitted helps illustrate my thought process and how I approach my work in general.

Alot of time is spent on research and just doing alot of ugly doodles. I used to find sketching a real chore, and also I’m very concerned about making pretty pictures and making everything in my sketchbook look awesome. But then I remember, a sketchbook is a sketchbook. It’s a notebook of whatever idea comes into our heads and to make pretty pictures, we’ve got to get the ugly ones out of the way and the best way to do that is to sketch. What’s your process when making art? I’d love to hear from you.

Happy New Year & more

January 1, 2014 § Leave a comment

Happy new year! To everyone who has been following my blog, thank you so much for your support. I look forward to updating more art and this year, I shall share my art techniques and maybe talk more about what I’ve learned instead of just posting my art pieces. Hopefully, you will share your techniques and art with me too and we can learn from each other.

As mentioned, I’ve been working hard on creating a brand new portfolio, and I am happy to say that I did it.  You can find it at, or you can just click on the link titled Visual Development Portfolio on the right sidebar. There is so much more to learn, to improve and to do. But at least I did something, which is better than what I can hope for.

In the meantime, I hope that everyone has a great year ahead, and keep drawing!

Here are some faces for the frost giant character.
