Lost N Found Art

February 15, 2017 § Leave a comment

Here are some pieces of work that I did for Omens Studios when they wanted to do a couple of concept pitches for children’s animation for Okto channel

I also did some initial concept write up and art for Leo the Wildlife Ranger – winner of Best Preschool Programme at the 21st Asian Television Awards, but alas, I’ve lost them haha 😛 Anyway I’m sure the peeps at Omens have it!

Hello all! To those who still check this blog, thanks! Sorry there hasn’t been new content here, it’s just easier for me to post on Instagram (follow me @clarabellechong) . But I’ve got something to share today. Which is the process work for this piece.

In 100 frames, I’ll show you how this picture was done. I compiled these 100 images into a gif. So, scroll down to watch and see how I got to the final image! (You may need to wait for it to load)

2016 – Panelgraph + Gormon

January 31, 2016 § Leave a comment

Hello guys!

This is going to be a quick post to kick off my blog for 2016. A piece of work I did a few years back has been feature in the first quarterly issue of Panelgraph 2016. But as a treat, i dug out some of the old sketches and also write a little bit about the process. Here is the link, and you’ll want to read the 2016.1 issue, under the entry Clarabelle Chong.

So people who dig reading about process work – this would be something neat to read.

And also, this year Gor-Mon kicked of the year of the monkey by being a part of a children’s program. I made some colouring pages and also created some handmade prizes for the kids who made the best colouring. And the winners were picked by other kids! Read all about it here.

I’ll have more photos to share on the website when I receive them from the organizer.

I’ll also share the latest adorable Gor & Mon stuffed toys I’ve been making soon.

Anyway, I posted a few new sketches on my instagram account at the end of last year, so follow me on instagram to get the latest art. I’m working on a change of style after getting some pretty cool brushes from Kyle T. Webster.

I’m still keeping this blog going, just that it isn’t getting as much love as it used to. But a big thanks to the peeps who have been following my blog for four years now!

Till my next post – ttyl!

Studies at the Imaginism House

November 9, 2015 § Leave a comment

One of the best things I learnt on this trip is that it doesn’t take that long to do a study. Sure, some will take an hour or two, but by setting a time limit (we were given 30 mins),  its better to do four 30 minute studies of something than slave away at one thing for 2 hrs. Of course, nothing wrong with a 2 hr study but not setting a time limit makes us procrastinate because in our minds we think, “That’s going to take me a couple of hours and I don’t have time today. I’ll do it tomorrow.”

We, the students, found it a horrendous task in the beginning but Thierry insisted. And later on, I really started to see the value of it. If I can just dedicate 30 mins a day to do one study, even if its crappy, it will still be better than nothing.

October Update + Imaginism Workshop

October 19, 2015 § Leave a comment

I haven’t been keeping up with my updates this year but I’m going to make up for it by posting a lot more in the month of October and November while I attend the Imaginism Studio Workshop in Canada!

View of Montreal from above!

At the beautiful Imaginism Studio Home, it’s really hard not to get inspired because we are surrounded by nature and there are all sorts of cool concept art and paintings on the walls around the house and in our individual bedrooms.

Awesome Lac McGill just right beside us.

It’s been exactly a week since I’ve arrived here and so far, it’s going really well. I met three other girls who are so fun and interesting. The best part is we are from different continents and so we can share and learn about our different foods, culture and home towns. Yet even though we live so far apart, we are quite alike one way or another which paved the way for us to become friends almost immediately.

That’s all for now. I will update this blog and share what we do during the week, what we do for fun and also show more pictures of our beautiful surroundings!

April Autograph Art Attack!

April 12, 2015 § Leave a comment

I missed my March update, sorry! Instagram spoils me! I get too lazy to log in and post on wordpress now. But I really should because some of you are still following me here and I really should show my blog some love. Anyway, if you haven’t followed me on instagram, please do so as I update there more often. @clarabellechong is my username.

What have I been up to? Well, work – lots of it. But then, in my work I get to meet celebrities sometimes and so, I have begun collecting autographs. Of course there are many celebrities I couldn’t get an autograph even though I shook hands with them and said hi! Just security and time issues.

Anyway, the ones below are those I managed to get an autograph.  (Do you know who they belong to? – hover over the picture to get a clue in the file name ) (p.s. I am re-posting 3 of them that I posted last year)

There are many others I drew – but no autograph, no post! I’m holding out and hoping that I will get to meet them again one day and get that autograph!

2015 Update

February 19, 2015 § Leave a comment

Hi all!

This blog did not start the new year well! Lack of updates = dull. I’ve got a new job and that has been keeping me busy – although I try to squeeze in a drawing or two between breaks. I’ve been updating my Instagram more regularly because it’s so much easier. You can follow me @clarabellechong, if you haven’t already.

I am a few things lined up in personal project book – the next step is to DO IT. If not they will forever be ideas and nothing more.

I’ve got a two week break coming up in March, hopefully I’ll be able to show more stuff then. Sorry, I don’t have any juicy art to share – but again you can see it on my instagram or just click on my hashtag #clarabellechong .

Till my next update – keep drawing!

November Update

November 27, 2014 § Leave a comment

Super busy month! Both in October and November. I apologize for abandoning my twice a month update to only a monthly one.

Work is really crazy and so I haven’t found the time to draw as much as I like, But still at least I got some art down! I also got to bring GORMON out to the public and we got a lot more followers and basically got the word out there. I am hopeful about this venture.

In the meantime, I’m going to share some pictures I drew this month, you’ve probably seen this if you follow my instagram. I’ll also share some www.gor-mon.com stuff. (Do check that out if you haven’t!)

Art Dump!

October 6, 2014 § Leave a comment

I absolutely missed posting in September, but it’s not because I haven’t been drawing. In fact, I’ve been doing lots. It’s just that now I have an Instagram account (@clarabellechong), I just find it so much easy to update there.

In anycase, I still haven’t forgotten about my blog followers, and so I’ll be sharing what I shared on there but with a few goodies because I get to show process here. Here are some characters that for a story idea I’ve been working on recently. I also made them for this month’s Inktober.

Tools: Sakura Watercolours with Kuretake water brush, Micron Pens & colour pencils.

I’ll show off more stuff again and in the meantime, I’m still working on GORMON (www.gor-mon.com) where you can see more of my art. Till my next update, see ya
